Seçil and Ömer’s paths crossed in their chosen careers. They were both working in dubbing and translating business. First, they decided to joined their businesses, than their lives. And they contacted me to photograph their wedding on The Bosphorus on a boat cruise.
I remember our first chat on the phone with Seçil. She told me about a wedding she attended in Italy. She loved the photographs from that wedding, because they were unposed, natural, end focused on the emotions. She had decided to have similar photographs for her own wedding.
But all the photographers she could find in Turkey were focused on posed images of the bride and the groom. Even in the unposed photographs, there were no emotions. They were either photos of the wedding details and decorations, or getting ready photos that only showed how the lipstick and eylashes were applied. She was about to lose all hope when she came accross my work.
On the wedding day, I joined her at her parents’ home. While she was having her hair and make up done, the guests arriving from Germany for the wedding were bringing home joy with them.
When she was ready , Ömer and his family arrived to pick her up. We went to nearby Beykoz Korusu for some portraits. There, a few puppies came by, as if they wanted to congratulate the couple, and Seçil had some fun time with them, too. Then we boarded the boat, and we sailed after the ceremony. The dancing continued through the night of this lovely wedding.
