The first time Ayfer called me, she told me that she was looking for a good photographer for her St. Anthony of Padua wedding. Jon, her fiancé, was from the United States, so it also had to be an English-speaking photographer. After a lovely coversation, I knew I was going to be with them on the wedding day.
Jon is the author of the new book on leadership, Grass is Browner. On his book, he proudly tells about how she met Ayfer on his travels.
And I proudly tell about the two WPJA awards I recieved with photographs from this St. Anthony of Padua wedding 🙂
On the wedding day, I joined them at the Wydnham Grand Kalamış to photograph their preparations. Afterwards, we took Uber to get to St. Anthony of Padua. This is a beautiful church in Taksim, Istanbul, to do a Catholic wedding in Turkey. The ceremony involved a very cute ring bearer, lovely flower girls, and heart-warming speaches.
The wedding reception was on a boat cruise on the Bosphorus. After the toasts during the dinner, we stepped out to the deck for the party. It was a windy night on the Bosphorus, so there was a small panic when the boat staff set the sparklers on the wedding cake.
